Papua- Puncak Police held a joint interfaith prayer event in the Negelar Hall, Ilaga. This joint prayer is to make the 2024 regional elections in Puncak Regency run safely and peacefully.
Interfaith joint prayer including Puncak Regent Official Nenu Tabuni and the ranks of the Puncak Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda). The pair of candidates for Regent and Deputy Regent also attended the joint prayer.
Apart from that, there were also religious and community leaders, as well as State Civil Apparatus (ASN), including representatives of TNI assigned units in Puncak Regency. The Acting Regent of Puncak, Nenu Tabuni, expressed his appreciation to the Puncak Police for holding this joint prayer activity.
According to Nenu, this activity is a form of joint support for the realization of safe, peaceful and democratic elections in Puncak Regency.
For him, this activity is very strategic, because it is an effort to ensure stability, security and regional comfort during the election stages.
Nenu invites all communities, institutions and religious leaders in Puncak Regency, especially candidate pairs and success teams to support the Pilkada stages with full responsibility and integrity.
“I also remind all candidate pairs and success teams to carry out campaigns with full sportsmanship, honesty, and not to spread slander or provoke people. “The public must also be wise in filtering information, not easily provoked by fake news or hoaxes circulating, especially on social media,” he said.
By avoiding hoaxes, the public can make the right decisions based on the vision, mission and programs of the candidate pairs. Not based on incitement that can divide.
He also thanked the Police through the Head of Puncak Police, Commissioner I Nyoman Punia and the personnel of all the Police for holding this very positive activity.
“I would like to thank you for carrying out this joint prayer activity. Hopefully this will be the beginning of holding peaceful regional elections in the district. Peak,” he said.
In the same place, Puncak Police Chief Commissioner I Nyoman Punia said that this joint prayer event was important, considering the potential for insecurity that often accompanies elections. Puncak Regency is one of the regencies that is of concern in terms of vulnerability.
“We hope that this interfaith prayer can provide peace for security in Puncak Regency. “Then the contestants will also compete in the post-conflict regional elections in Puncak Regency,” he said.
In terms of security, Nyoman also emphasized that the National Police together with the TNI and related parties will continue to unite potential vulnerabilities. Apart from that, there is also identity politics, the spread of potentially divisive issues, as well as hoaxes and hatred.
“We are committed to securing the 2024 Simultaneous Elections. However, without support from protecting the community to maintain comfort, this effort will be difficult to realize,” he said.
