Jayapura- Lecturer in Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Cenderawasih University (Uncen) Dr. Renida Jozelina Toroby stated that to realize peaceful regional elections in the Land of Papua, the election organizers must be independent.
“To realize peaceful regional elections, one of the election organizers must really pay attention to their duties and carry them out independently and not take sides with political parties and election participants,” said Renida Jozelina Toroby.
He said election organizers should not be contaminated by any party who could tarnish democracy.
According to him, election participants must also respect what is regulated in statutory regulations, including the Election Law and Regional Election Law and even KPU regulations governing elections, campaigns and others.
Participants must respect the regulations that govern them in the process of holding elections where they act as election participants so that it is hoped that the complexity of problems which usually become a source of problems during elections can be minimized or even eliminated.
Apart from that, the public must also participate based on regulations, namely that if they support one candidate they are not allowed to carry out a “black campaign” against the other candidate.
“The people who support candidate pairs must be on the rails of democracy and truly respect the realization of peaceful elections,” said the lecturer who teaches at Uncen’s social sciences doctoral program.
