Papua- The Papuan Traditional Council (DAP) together with tribal chiefs and Indonesian regional communities and religious leaders in Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua have agreed to realize the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada which is safe and peaceful.
The joint agreement was concluded in the Peaceful Pilkada Declaration at the Wondama Regional DAP Office in Wondiboi, Saturday, September 28 2024. The declaration was led by the Chair of the Wondama Regional DAP, Adrian Worengga.
“The Wondama Regional Papuan Traditional Council is the big home for all the tribes in Teluk Wondama Regency. “I invite all levels of society from Rumberpon to Naikere and from Nikiwar to Teluk Duairi to work together to create a peaceful Pilkada for Teluk Wondama Regency in 2024,” said Worengga.
Wondama Regional DAP General Secretary William Torey emphasized that differences in political choices should not damage the brotherly and togetherness relations between elements of the Wondama Bay community.
“Different choices in politics are normal. However, the most important thing is how we bring about peace in people’s lives. “We may have different choices, but we are still brothers,” said Torey.
The Peaceful Pilkada Declaration initiated by the Wondamaa Regional DAP ended with the signing of the declaration text by all the figures present.
Among others, the Chairman of the Toraja Family Association (IKT) Marthen Tonga, the Batak Family Association, Pasundan Teluk Wondama Harmony, the Merauke Association, Sorong Raya Harmony, as well as the Chairmen of the Marga Traditional Council in Teluk Wondama Regency.
Meanwhile, religious figures were present, the Chair of the GKI Wondama Class, Reverend Antipas Paririe and the Chair of the Santo Laurentius Wasior Parish Council, Bernadus Setiawan.
