Jayapura, September 24, 2024 – Frids Samuel Afrayan, Head of Barisan Merah Putih (BMP) R-I Biak Numfor Regency, Papua Province, expressed his appreciation to the TNI-Polri who are members of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force for their success in freeing Susi Air Pilot, Philip Mark Mehrtens.
Pilot Philip Mark Mehrtens, who was held hostage by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Egianus Kogoya in Paro District, Nduga Regency, since February 7, 2023, was finally released on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Frids Samuel Afrayan emphasized that the long and coordinated efforts of the government through the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force had produced very good results.
“In the release of the pilot, there were no fatalities either from civilians, TNI-Polri officers, or the pilot himself. This is an extraordinary success,” said Afrayan.
He added that this success was an extraordinary achievement that demonstrated the government’s commitment and ability in handling crisis situations.
As the Head of BMP R-I Biak Numfor Regency, Frids Samuel Afrayan, expressed his highest gratitude and appreciation to the government and the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force.
