Soft Approach by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia was successful, Pilot Philip was finally released
Timika – Pilot Philip was held hostage by KKB Egianus Kogoya in the Nduga region for 1.5 years. The government of the Republic of Indonesia has made various efforts to free Pilot Philip. As explained by the Head of Peace Operations Cartenz 2024 Brigadier General Pol Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, the Peace Operations Task Force Cartenz 2024 has so far prioritized soft approaches rather than hard approaches.
“Yes, that’s right, we prioritize approaches through religious figures, church figures, traditional figures and close family of Egianus Kogoya. This approach is important to minimize the loss of life from both the authorities and civilians and at the same time maintain the safety of the pilot himself,” explained Faizal.
After a long time approaching various figures. Finally it paid off, today Saturday (21/09/2024) Pilot Philip was successfully picked up by the Joint TNI-Polri Team which is part of the Cartenz 2024 Peace Task Force.
Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz 2024 Peace Operation, KBP Dr. Bayu Suseno explained that Pilot Philip was successfully freed and picked up by the joint team located in Yuguru Village, Maibarok District, Nduga Regency and immediately flown to Mako Brimob Battalion B/Timika.
“Yes, that’s right, today we managed to pick up Pilot Philip in good health. We flew the pilot from Nduga directly to Timika,” explained Bayu
Furthermore, Pilot Philip was immediately taken to a special room to carry out medical mitigation while ensuring that Pilot Philip’s psychological condition was stable. After the mitigation activities, a press conference is planned to be held at the Cartenz 2024 Peace Operation Post at Mako Brimob Battalion B/Timika.
“After mitigation is carried out, it will be continued with a press conference. Media colleagues are welcome to come to our post at Mako Brimob Battalion B/Timika to hear the contents of the press conference directly from the officials,” concluded Bayu.
