Jayapura- The statement by Egianus Kogoya, leader of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), regarding the release of Captain Philip Mark Mehrtens, a Susi Air pilot who had been held hostage for more than a year, was widely spread on social media.
In this statement, the KKB issued a proposal for pilot exemption.
The proposal was published on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, and appointed facilitator for delivery mediation Philip Mark Mehrtens. According to KKB spokesperson, Sebby Sambon, this proposal is in response to demands that have been voiced by various parties.
Responding to these developments, Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Public Relations Task Force, Pol Kombes. Dr. Bayu Suseno, stated that the collective was still studying the contents of the proposal.
“It is important for us to ensure that this proposal is a truly serious effort to free the pilots, considering that the previous KKB often made similar propaganda which was not realized,” explained Bayu Suseno.
Furthermore, we will coordinate with various parties after ensuring the validity of this proposal so that the pilot can run well and safely.
Police Commissioner. Dr. Bayu Suseno again asked for support and prayers from the community so that the release plan would run smoothly without any further denial from the KKB.
“We ask for prayer support from the community so that efforts to free this pilot can be carried out well, without anyone denying or cheating.” concluded Bayu
