Jayapura- Community leader Lapago Sem Kogoya invites all parties to make the 2024 regional elections a success which will be held next October.
“Whether or not the regional elections are successful is up to the community, so let’s maintain security and remind them that regional elections can be held which can produce leaders who can develop,” he said.
“Peace is not only the duty of security forces, but security is the responsibility of all of us as citizens,” he stressed.
Apart from ensuring success by maintaining security and safeguarding, Sem asks every citizen to respect differences.
“Everyone has the right to make their choices, and we as citizens must respect it, without interference and so on,” said Rafael.
In the midst of many propaganda issues being spread by unbalanced individuals on social media, Sem hopes that the public will be wiser in responding to them.
“Don’t be easily provoked, be wise in responding to issues circulating on social media,” he explained.
He asked the security forces to act firmly against certain individuals or groups who wanted to thwart the regional elections.
“We hope that the elements who want to thwart the regional elections will be deterred, because what is often said in the name of the Papuan people is not true. “Papuan people want change,” he stressed.
In fact, there is a Papuan stigma
vulnerable to regional elections must be eliminated, considering that Papua is a land of peace.
“Let’s echo Papua’s love of peace, because violence opens up a solution to change the situation,” he stressed.
