Mimika – Director of the Kamoro Tribe Customary Consultative Institution (Lemasko), Gregorius Okoare, invited all elements of Central Papua society, especially the Mimika Regency community, to jointly maintain security and order in order to build the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
In his statement, Gregorius reminded that the community will face an important national agenda, namely the simultaneous Regional Head Election (Pilkada) democratic party which will be held on November 27, 2024. This Pilkada covers elections throughout Indonesia, including in Mimika Regency and provinces in Papua.
“To tribal chiefs, traditional leaders, religious leaders, women’s leaders, youth leaders, and intellectuals, I ask that we maintain security together ahead of the Pilkada,” said Gregorius.
He also emphasized the importance of unity to maintain the stability of the country, especially in the midst of a heated political situation.
“Let us unite to protect our country, Indonesia, by maintaining security and making the 2024 simultaneous regional elections a success,” he added.
Specifically, Gregorius reminded the Kamoro people not to be easily provoked by misleading issues that could cause unrest in society.
“Let us support the Papua Police Chief, the West Papua Police Chief, and their staff, as well as the TNI-POLRI Military Commander, in creating a peaceful Papua,” he concluded.
This invitation was conveyed by Gregorius as a form of support for efforts to create a safe and conducive atmosphere ahead of the 2024 regional elections in Papua, especially in Mimika, for the sake of a healthy and peaceful democracy.
