Jayapura – The Dogiyai Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident by unidentified individuals (OTK), which resulted in one person being injured.
The Head of Public Relations for Papua Police, Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom, confirmed the incident when contacted.
According to Commissioner Prabowo, the incident occurred on Sunday, September 1, at around 4:05 PM local time, on the Trans Nabire-Enatorali Road, KM 192. At that time, a truck driven by Junaidi, accompanied by two passengers, Edwin and Omar, was passing through the area.
“The incident took place as the truck was passing through the road. Suddenly, gunshots were heard, hitting the front of the truck and striking a passenger named Omar. He sustained a gunshot wound in his right palm, which penetrated to his right calf,” explained Commissioner Prabowo.
The injured victim has been taken to Pratama Dogiyai Hospital and will be transferred to Nabire Regional Hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, Dogiyai Police Chief, Commissioner Sarraju, S.H., stated that the Dogiyai Police are currently investigating the shooting incident to identify the perpetrators and their motives.
“Police have initiated a preliminary investigation by interviewing the truck driver and the passengers. They will also conduct a crime scene investigation to identify the suspects,” concluded Commissioner Sarraju.
