Jayapura – Surprising facts have been revealed regarding the origins of the Morning Star Flag, a symbol that has long been known as a symbol of the struggle of separatist groups in Papua.
Herman Yoku, a former member of the Free Papua Movement (OPM) who has now returned to the bosom of Mother Earth, revealed that the flag actually came from the flag of a football club in Jayapura.
In his statement, Herman Yoku said that when the Dutch left Papua, they manipulated the original flag of the football club.
“The Dutch removed the ball image from the flag and replaced it with a star symbol,” he said.
Herman added that this action was a form of deception carried out by the Dutch against the Papuan people as a whole.
Furthermore, Herman revealed that the original flag now known as the Morning Star Flag was actually the flag of a football club from the Nafri region, an area located in Jayapura City.
“That flag (Bintang Kejora) is the flag of a football club from the Nafri region,” said Herman.
For a long time, this flag has been a symbol of resistance for a small group of Papuans who want independence. However, with the revelation of its true origins, the public is expected to be able to see more clearly what really happened behind the symbol.
Herman Yoku hopes that this revelation can open the eyes of the Papuan people as a whole about the true history, and stop all forms of provocation carried out by certain parties who want to divide the unity of the nation.
“It is time for us to unite and no longer be fooled by the lies spread by outsiders,” he concluded.
