Jayapura- In connection with the issue of a demonstration that will be held on August 15 2024, religious leaders in Papua Province appealed to all elements of society to be wise in responding to existing issues or problems, especially ahead of the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
“I am Rev. MPA Mauri, Chair of the PGGP Papua Province. I hereby appeal to all levels of society ahead of Indonesia’s Independence Day on August 17 2024, I invite us all to be free in Christ. Whoever we are, let’s support a safe and peaceful Kamtibmas,” appealed Rev. MPA Mauri S.Th.
All levels of society are expected to prepare themselves to celebrate the independence achieved by the nation’s heroes by holding demonstrations against the government. “Whoever we are, we must not oppose the government’s plans or regulations. “Because the government is God’s representative,” he said.
According to him, the government does not prohibit expressing aspirations in public, but it has been regulated in statutory regulations. “To residents and congregations, please help us comply with the existing regulations, because recently I heard there was a demonstration. “In maintaining state sovereignty and social security, the TNI/Polri of course adhere to institutional regulations, this is what is expected so that when demonstrating they pay attention to the applicable regulations,” he said.
As a religious figure, Rev MPA Mauri admitted that he had heard that there would be a demonstration. “Moreover, we religious leaders heard that there would be a demonstration related to the commemoration of the New York Agreement and a demonstration related to racism. For this reason, on this occasion I invite all of us to calm ourselves and think and follow carefully if we want to demonstrate, but demonstrate according to the rules and laws that applies,” he said.
“So that our good brothers and sisters can leave a good example for our future children and grandchildren, so that we can persuade in this world and the kingdom of heaven to become our portion. “Let’s support Kamtibmas in Jayapura City and the Land of Papua, God sends Hallelujah, Shaloom,” he concluded.
