Mimika, Central Papua – The Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force Cartenz2024 Peace Operations has finished investigating the crime scene of the murder of pilot Glen Malcolm Conning, who is a New Zealand citizen. This tragic incident occurred on Monday, August 5 2024, in Ilaga District, Timika Regency.
Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., as Head of Cartenz-2024 Peace Operations, expressed his condolences for the death of pilot Glen and then explained that the crime scene processing activities had been completed, followed by investigations and investigation activities.
“The crime scene investigation in Alama District has been completed and currently law enforcement efforts against the perpetrators are in progress,” said Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani.

“Yes, that’s right, based on the results of the crime scene investigation, we found that there were 9 bullet holes in the body of the helicopter, including the top glass, rotor, propeller and tail of the helicopter. Apart from that, we also found 6 5.56mm caliber bullet casings around “The pilot’s body was found in the helicopter’s left cockpit,” explained Bayu
Please note that the pilot’s body was evacuated and then post-mortem at the Timika District Hospital (06/08/2024).
“The pilot’s body has been taken by PT Intan Angkasa Air Service and sent to Jakarta on Wednesday, August 7 2024. Meanwhile, for the post-mortem results, we are still waiting for an official letter from the Timika Regional Hospital,” explained Bayu Suseno.
Kaops further explained that based on statements from witnesses in the field, it was known that KKB from Nduga had been at the location for a week before carrying out the murder. There were at least five KKB members, four of whom carried long-barreled firearms and one person carried a machete. According to witnesses who heard them speak, it was strongly suspected from their accent and language that they were people from the Nduga area.
“We have examined 10 witnesses and from the statements of those who saw, heard and witnessed the murder of the Glen pilot, we have identified that the suspected perpetrator was KKB from Nduga,” explained Faizal
The Cartenz 2024 Peace Operations Task Force, in collaboration with the Timika Police, remains committed to continuing to enforce the law, pursue and uncover this case as quickly as possible.
