Timika- Acting Governor of Central Papua, Dr. Rebekah Haluk, S.Sos., MM, expressed her disappointment and condemned the heinous actions of the group of security troublemakers (KKB) who carried out the murder of New Zealand pilot Glend Malcolm Conning.
This murder incident was considered to have damaged human values, considering that the pilot was tasked with serving the people of Papua.
“Knowing about this incident makes me sad, disappointed and this should not have happened. “This pilot will work to serve the community, especially those living in frontier, remote and underdeveloped (3T) areas,” said Ribka Haluk.
He appealed to public servants such as teachers, health workers and including pilots who have donated their time and thoughts to work in remote areas to be looked after and protected.
Acts of violence in Papua, especially in Central Papua, must be stopped immediately.
“Those who work in 3T areas, such as pilots, including teachers and health workers are extraordinary, there is a price they have to pay to serve the community. God help… we should look after and protect them, they are sincerely working to serve society. Actions like this must not happen again,” he concluded.
Rebekah Haluk, has ordered the Head of the Health Service to immediately discuss the health workers who took part in the flight piloted by Conning.
He asked the Health Office to check the condition of all health workers working at the scene.
“The information I have received is that they are all fine, we hope they are not traumatized. “So it disrupts health services there,” he continued.
Regarding the incident that happened to pilot Conning, Governor Rebekah Haluk handed it over to the police to reveal who the perpetrator was.
He hopes that the legal process will be carried out persuasively.
“When the Cartenz Peace Task Force carried out this law enforcement, we suspect that the perpetrators were immediately arrested. “At this time we also don’t want to easily confirm who the perpetrators of this heinous act are, let the police work and reveal the full chronology of the incident,” he explained.
According to information received by Governor Rebekah Haluk, pilot Conning’s cemetery has been evacuated from the scene. He also expressed deep condolences to the family he left behind.
“On behalf of the government we express our deepest condolences to the family of Glend Malcolm Conning. “Hopefully the families left behind will be given strength and fortitude,” he said.
