Jayapura- The Yahukimo Armed Criminal Group (KKB) again carried out criminal acts by killing one civilian in Yahukimo Regency and burning a truck on Wednesday 31 July 2024, at 13.30 WIT.
Head of Cartenz 2024 Peace Operations, Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., when confirmed, said that the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon on the road to Kampung Masi, Yahukimo, Papua Mountains.
“We can convey that, it is true that there has been a murder of civilians and the burning of a truck in Yahukimo Regency carried out by the KKB in the Yahukimo region,” explained Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani.
The results of the identification revealed that the victim was named ABDUL MUZAKIR, born in Lendang Nangka, 21 June 1992, is Muslim, has an address at Jalan Paradiso, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency and works as a truck driver.

Dr. Bayu Suseno, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., M.H., in his statement said that, According to the information obtained, this incident occurred when the victim Abdul Muzakir, who was a truck driver, was on his way to Kampung Masi to pick up wood. The truck carried 16 people, with 13 people sitting in the back and 3 people in the front cabin.
“As the truck was moving, suddenly six KKB people appeared from the bushes and blocked the truck. One of the six people was carrying an SS2 type firearm, while the other five were carrying machetes. Seeing this threat, victim Abdul Muzakir immediately turned the truck around to escape towards the city. However, the truck experienced problems and died in the middle of the road, so it was positioned across the road and blocked the road,” explained Police Commissioner. Dr. Bayu Suseno.
He continued, victim Abdul Muzakir and his partner Neri Ommu (witness) immediately ran away, but victim Abdul Muzakir suffered a tragic fate.
The victim was found dead at the scene of the incident with the victim’s body suffering from injuries. The victim’s body has been evacuated to Dekai Regional Hospital for further treatment.
Police Commissioner. Dr. Bayu Suseno explained again that fellow victim Neri Ommu (witness) managed to escape and report the incident.
According to witness Neri Ommu, there were six perpetrators, one carrying a firearm and five others carrying machetes. They wore clothing that characterized the KKB group, with one of the perpetrators wearing a striped t-shirt, dreadlocks and a red, yellow and black headband.
“The evidence found at the scene was two burnt cellphones, five bottles of cold drinks, a plastic bag containing areca nuts, a pair of green Swallow brand sandals and a pack of Essedouble brand cigarettes,” said Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Ops Damai Cartenz.
Until now, the whereabouts of the 13 passengers who were in the back of the truck are unknown and are still being searched by the joint team of the Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force and the Yahukimo Police and the Papua Police Mobile Brigade.
He added that the perpetrators were an armed criminal group (KKB) operating in the Yahukimo area and until now, the police, in this case, the Cartenz Peace Task Force, and the Yahukimo Police were still carrying out further investigations to identify the perpetrators.
