Jayapura – President Joko Widodo is again visiting Papua Province, to attend the peak of the 40th National Children’s Day commemoration, which will take place at Istora Papua Bangkit, Jayapura Regency, Tuesday 23 July 2024.
The delegation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia arrived at Sentani Airport on Monday (22/07/2024) afternoon, at around 17.35 WIT, using the Presidential plane from Surabaya, East Java.
The 18th visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to Papua, received appreciation from various figures in Papua, including Church figures who gave the highest appreciation and appreciation for the President’s great attention to the Land of Papua.
Chairman of the FKUB (Religious Communication Forum) Jayapura Regency, Rev. Albert Yoku, conveyed his congratulations to the President in the Land of Papua. According to him, only President Jokowi has so far paid great attention to development in Papua, so it is very natural that the Papuan people are very happy about the visit from the number one person in the Republic of Indonesia.
“Welcome Mr President Jokowi for the 18th time to Papua, to meet all your people who are here, but this time it is very special because you come to meet the children and grandchildren of this nation and country who will be the golden generation in the future in 2045 in “celebrating the 40th anniversary of National Children’s Day,” said Rev. Albert Yoku.
He admitted that many Papuan children idolize the figure of President Joko Widodo, and of course he is a different President than before, because only during Jokowi’s leadership could Papua experience very significant development developments.
“Thank you, sir, for your sincerity in developing Papua, thank you for the great motivation given to Papuan children, great attention to the land of Papua. God will protect you, President, from departure in Jakarta to Papua and upon his return, Amen,” said one member. The Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development for Papua (BP3OKP).
He also advised the elected President, namely Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to follow in the footsteps of Joko Widodo’s leadership, who paid great attention to accelerating development in Papua.
“As mandated in the Special Autonomy Law and Government Regulations, all of us as a community will continue everything that has been prepared and laid the foundation by President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin in the Land of Papua,” emphasized Alberth Yoku.
The same appreciation was also expressed by the Chair of the Synod of the Indonesian Gospel Tent Church (GKII) Region 1 Papua, Rev. Petrus Bonyadone, who could also feel President Joko Widodo’s attention to development in Papua.
“Aside from personal, but also in my various services in several regions in Papua, I heard directly the appreciation of the Papuan people for the work and leadership of President Joko Widodo. He has made a lot of changes in Papua,” he said.
He hopes that the President and Vice President-elect will be able to continue the programs implemented by the previous President, Joko Widodo, and that the Papuan people will of course continue to support the government to accelerate development in Papua.
“We continue to pray that all the development that we will experience in Papua will be maintained so that Papua becomes a land of peace and is able to provide prosperity for the Papuan people. “Including in the simultaneous regional elections, we hope that God will protect Papua, so that the regional elections can run safely and peacefully,” concluded Rev. Petrus Bonyadone.
