Papua- Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto discussed the issue of the border between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea which is often used as a crossing for members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
Prabowo Subianto discussed the KKB’s actions directly with Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape. Apart from that, he also discussed the border where the KKB roamed at the Indonesian Ministry of Defense Office, Jakarta.
Prabowo Subianto’s acquaintance explained that the border between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea was often a crossing point for KKB members.
Prabowo Subianto explained that initially he stated that it was related to cooperation between the two countries. Then, he explained about the border areas that traditional residents had traversed for hundreds of years.
“Our cooperation is very good, and we must know that many people on the border are on both parts of the border, it is traditional, for hundreds of years, families go back and forth,” said Prabowo.
He also then emphasized that relations between the two countries would be better maintained. When asked about the Papua New Guinea border, which is often a KKB crossing, Prabowo explained that PNG really respects the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.
“They really respect our sovereignty,” he stressed.
It is known that the KKB often causes trouble and attacks residents and TNI and Polri officers. Recently, the KKB even set fire to school buildings in the Okbap area, Papua Mountains.
The school building was burned on the first day of entry because they did not accept teaching children to memorize Indonesia’s 1945 Constitution.
