Papua – Two young individuals from Central Papua Province have been selected to participate in the raising of the Merah Putih flag during the celebration of Indonesia’s Independence Day in the new capital city (IKN) in East Kalimantan this August.
The Head of the Central Papua Province National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol), Drs. Thepilus Lukas Ayomi, announced that the formation of the Paskibraka team involved stages of recruitment, selection, centralized education, and training, culminating in the official inauguration.
“This process is in accordance with the regulations of the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Development (BPIP) Number 3 of 2022 concerning the implementation of Presidential Regulation Number 51 of 2022, Article 8. Selected Paskibraka candidates at the district, provincial, and national levels are required to undergo centralized education and training before carrying out their duties of raising and lowering the Merah Putih Sacred Flag,” Ayomi explained.
“In preparation for the Independence Day celebrations, we in Central Papua have conducted recruitment and selection processes. Recently, two representatives from Central Papua who passed the national selection have been sent to Jakarta for centralized training from August 12 to 14, 2024, and will serve in the IKN,” Ayomi told rri.co.id in his office on Friday, July 12, 2024.
The Head of Kesbangpol Central Papua Province also revealed that the two young individuals selected for the centralized training are Joe Bayden Imanuel Kalem and Bergitha Rabania Dimara, who will represent Central Papua Province in the IKN.
“Yesterday, we sent four candidates to Jakarta for the selection process: two from Timika and two from Nabire. However, only two candidates from Nabire passed. Meanwhile, the candidates from Timika will rejoin their peers at the provincial level to serve as provincial Paskibraka members,” he added.
Ayomi expressed his hope that the two selected youths participating in the national Paskibraka team would not only undergo centralized training but also perform better than other provincial Paskibraka candidates, potentially being chosen as the flag bearers or commanders of the team responsible for raising the flag.
He also encouraged parents with children in high school to start preparing their children early to participate in future Paskibraka recruitment processes, as this provides valuable opportunities for the youth’s future.
“This activity provides young people with the opportunity to build friendships across Indonesia and access beneficial information for their future, whether in education or career,” he said.
“It is rare for someone from Mepago to become a national Paskibraka member. Now, we are proud that two of our children have become representatives from Central Papua Province as a new province,” he concluded.
