Jayapura- Police Commissioner Ardyan Ukie Hercahyo officially serves as Yapen Islands Police Chief. The handover ceremony was held at the New Papua Regional Police’s rally field, Koya Koso Village, Wednesday (10/7), led directly by the Papua Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Mathius D. Fakhiri. Kompol Ardyan replaces AKBP Herzoni Saragih and previously served as Head of Public Relations Sub-Division of the Papua Police.
On this occasion, Police Commissioner Ardyan said that he would continue the programs initiated by the previous Police Chief. He also plans to collaborate with various parties, including community leaders, religious leaders and youth in the Yapen Islands, especially ahead of the simultaneous regional elections which will be held in November.
“Ahead of the Pilkada, as the new Police Chief we will collaborate with stakeholders there, especially election organizers, to realize peaceful Pilkada,” said Commissioner Ardyan to journalists at the Papua Police Headquarters, Thursday (11/7/2024). An approach to stakeholders, especially the KPU, is considered important to minimize undesirable things during the implementation of the Pilkada.
He emphasized that the evaluation results showed that the potential for negative things during the Pilkada could be minimized if the KPU carried out better outreach and education. Therefore, his party will work together with the KPU to ensure that educational programs for the community can run optimally.
