Jayapura – The Mimika Police have apprehended individuals responsible for the clashes in Nduga, specifically on Jalan Pintu V Lama, Kenyam District, Highland Papua Province, on Saturday (07/06).
Papua Police Public Relations Head, Kombes Pol. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom., confirmed the arrests, stating that the action was based on a request from the acting regent to the police chief, which was then forwarded to the Papua Police Chief.
“Today, we have arrested and secured the war chiefs from both groups involved. They will be removed from Kenyam, Nduga, to calm the situation and pave the way for peace,” said the Public Relations Head.
He also mentioned that four individuals were suspected of instigating the conflict: IG and RG from the first group, and TW and NW from the second group.
In a related statement, AKBP I Gede Putra, the Mimika Police Chief, reported that at 12:30 WIT, the Smart Cakrawala Aviation C-208B-EX PK/SNW, piloted by Capt. Wahyu, took off from UPBU Mozes Kilangin Airport in Timika for an evacuation mission of the war chiefs and their supporters from both sides to Kenyam Airport, Nduga District.
“At precisely 13:46 WIT, the Smart Cakrawala Aviation C-208B-EX PK/SNW, piloted by Capt. Wahyu, landed at UPBU Mozes Kilangin Airport in Timika, carrying the war chiefs and their supporters,” he stated.
He further added that at 14:00 WIT, the disembarkation process of the war chiefs and their supporters was completed, and they were transported to Mimika Police headquarters.
“They are currently secured at Mimika Police headquarters and will be flown to Jayapura on July 7 for further examination,” concluded the Mimika Police Chief.
The entire process of receiving the war chiefs and their supporters at UPBU Mozes Kilangin Airport in Timika proceeded smoothly and safely.
