Cartenz Peace Task Force Denies the Existence of Shooting Contact Between KKB and TNI Polri in Ilaga District. Puncak

Timika – Head of Cartenz 2024 Peace Operations Brigadier General Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K. M.H. stated that there were no reports of gunfire between the KKB and the Indonesian National Police in the Ilaga area, Kab. Puncak of Central Papua, on 27-29 June 2024.

“Until now there have been no reports in Ilaga regarding gunfire, there have been no activities or incidents,” said Faizal when confirmed on Tuesday, July 4 2024.

The Cartenz Peace Task Force’s statement was made in response to a press statement from the management of the National Command Headquarters of the West Papua National Liberation Army (KOMNAS TPNPB) which stated that a shootout occurred on Thursday, June 27 2024.

The shootout was said to have occurred because Indonesian military troops from Timika headed for Ilaga carrying weapons, bombs and war logistics entered Puncak Regency, Papua.

As previously reported, the shootout between the Indonesian army and the TPNPB lasted for two hours in Sinakin, Puncak Regency, Papua. Sebby said that TNI troops did not only use weapons in the shootout.

Based on reports from the armed criminal group, TNI troops also used drones equipped with mortar bombs during the firefight.
