Papua- Conditions in Kenyam City, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains are starting to become conducive, after a clash between two groups which invited three residents, Tuesday 2 July 2024.
This is the statement by AKBP V.J Parapaga, Nduga Police Chief to the media Wednesday 3 July 2024.
It is said that the condition of Public Security and Order in the area is starting to recover, while the community has returned to carrying out their usual activities.
Even though things are normal, TNI-Polri security forces are still on guard in the area.
The police chief emphasized that the conflict that occurred in Kenyam was not a clash between tribes, but rather a clash between two groups in the aftermath of the last election.
“It is true that clashes between the two groups have occurred since the elections last February,” Police Chief.
As previously reported by this media, three people died as a result of clashes between the two groups.
Meanwhile, two bodies in the names of Marianus Gery from Alor, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Abraham Runga from Toraja were successfully evacuated to Timika at 10.26 using Caravan PK-SNW and PK-SNA aircraft.
The family plans to leave the body of the late Marianus Gery for burial in his hometown, Thursday 4 July 2024.
Meanwhile, the late Abraham Runga was taken by his family in Timika, but it is not yet known for certain whether he was buried in Timika or returned to Toraja.
