Jayapura- A young Papuan figure, Ali Kabiay, emphasized that all humans who have ever existed and lived on this earth have the same human rights (HAM).
This statement was made in response to human rights activists in Papua who often highlight the TNI-Polri security forces regarding human rights violations but rarely criticize human rights violations committed by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua.
According to Ali Kabiay, a young Papuan figure of native Saireri tribe, human rights are something universal and belong to everyone.
“All humans, including TNI-Polri officers, have human rights that must be respected and supported by society. “It’s not the other way around, it only belongs to certain circles,” stressed Ali in Jayapura.
Ali Kabiay highlighted the tendency of human rights activists to focus more on allegations of human rights violations by the TNI-Polri, while the real violations occurring before our eyes committed by the KKB are often ignored.
“What we often see is that incidents that happen to the TNI-Polri and civil society are often ignored by human rights activists. “In fact, the TNI-Polri are also human beings with hearts,” said Ali.
Ali emphasized the importance of understanding and respecting Human Rights as a whole, without discrimination. According to him, human rights activists must speak up about all the incidents that befell TNI-Polri officers as a result of the KKB’s actions. because human rights are something universal and global that belong to all humans who have ever been born on this earth.
“Whatever events happen to TNI-Polri officers, human rights activists must speak up regarding human rights because human rights are universal and global, belonging to all humans who have ever been born on this earth,” concluded Ali Kabiay.
Ali Kabiay hopes that the view regarding human rights can be more fair and comprehensive, and invites the entire community to support the authorities in maintaining security and order in Papua.
