Jayapura – Paniai Police Chief AKBP Abdus Syukur Felani, S.I.K., along with Acting Regent Dr. Martha Pigome, S.H., M.Hum., attended a gathering at the Holy Cross Catholic Parish Church in Madi District, Paniai Regency, on Tuesday (June 25, 2024). Their presence aimed to ensure the safety and comfort of residents following an incident in the Bibida District.
In his address, the Paniai Police Chief stated that the public order and safety situation in Paniai, particularly after the incident in Bibida District, is now under control.
“I am here to personally oversee and ensure the escort process in transporting the residents back to their hometowns,” he said.
Acting Regent of Paniai, Dr. Martha Pigome, expressed her appreciation to the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and Polri (Indonesian National Police) for providing a sense of security to the residents in several villages, including Odiyai, Bibida, Ugidimi, Kuisiga, Kugapa, Kolaitaga, and Dama-Dama in Bibida District.
“We, the Regional Government, extend our deepest gratitude to the TNI and Polri for their presence and for ensuring the safety of the residents, enabling them to return to their villages in a safe and sound condition,” said Dr. Martha Pigome.
The Paniai Police Chief added that today, he, along with the Acting Regent of Paniai, Paniai’s Regional Secretary, local Forkopimda (Regional Leadership Coordination Forum), senior officials from Paniai Police, Paniai Police personnel, and members of the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, participated in the escort and transportation process of residents back to their villages.
“We from the police have prepared six vehicles for the use of the evacuees,” he explained.
The transportation process was conducted in three stages and proceeded safely and smoothly. The Head of Bibida District, Yoriz Zonggonau, S.I.P., expressed his gratitude and emotion to the Paniai Police Chief and his team.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Paniai Police Chief and his team for escorting our residents back to their respective villages,” said Yoriz Zonggonau.
A resident of Ugidimi Village also thanked the Paniai Police Chief and the regional government for their assistance and for ensuring a smooth return to their original villages.
“Once again, many thanks to the Paniai Police Chief AKBP Abdus Syukur Felani, S.I.K., for the extraordinary attention and assistance provided,” the resident said.
This event reflects the synergy between the regional government and security forces in ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents in Paniai Regency. It is hoped that such measures will continue to maintain peace and harmony in the region.
