Papua – The development of important infrastructure in Papua has been hampered due to criminal acts often carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
As has happened in the last few weeks, the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) burned heavy equipment belonging to PT N Gunung Selatan in Galunggama Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, Wednesday (29/5/2024).
As a result of this action, bridge and main road construction projects connecting remote areas with big cities had to be delayed.
Intan Jaya Police Chief revealed that the excavator burned by KKB members was used for a bridge construction project in Galunggama Village, causing transportation access to be cut off and hampering the distribution of goods and the mobility of residents.
“We are currently investigating this case and collecting information from witnesses and local residents to obtain additional facts to identify the perpetrator behind this incident,” he explained.
This infrastructure damage not only hampers economic activity, but also affects the distribution of aid and health services. Local residents were furious with the actions of the KKB who did not think about the impact of the series of heinous actions they carried out, which caused access to basic needs and medical services to be hampered.
This of course hampers development efforts that are being actively carried out by the Central Government and Regional Governments.
