Jayapura – Support and appreciation continue to pour in for Indonesian National Police Chief, General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Si., following his policy to increase the quota of Bintara police officers specifically for the Papua Regional Police to 2,000 individuals. This policy has been well-received by various elements of society in Papua, including traditional and religious leaders in Pegunungan Bintang Regency.

In a statement, Engelbertus Uropmabin, Chairman of the Aplim Apom Sibilki Customary Council of Pegunungan Bintang Regency, expressed his profound gratitude to the National Police Chief.

“I, Engelbertus Uropmabin, as Chairman of the Aplim Apom Sibilki Customary Council of Pegunungan Bintang Regency, extend my thanks to the Chief of the Indonesian National Police for the assistance and acceptance of a quota of 2,000 Bintara officers for our community. You have extended opportunities and hope for our children to join the police force. Thank you very much,” Engelbertus expressed with deep gratitude.

A similar sentiment was echoed by Anselmus Taplo, S.T., Chairman of the FKUB (Forum for Religious Harmony) of Pegunungan Bintang Regency. In his remarks, Pastor Anselmus emphasized the importance of this policy for the security and welfare of the Papuan people.

“Praise the Lord, we are grateful to Almighty God for His power and help, we are here tonight. On behalf of Pastor Anselmus Taplo, S.T., Chairman of the FKUB of Pegunungan Bintang Regency, I extend my thanks to the Police Chief for increasing the quota of Bintara candidates at the Papua Regional Police to 2,000 and for the extended age limit for Indigenous Papuans,” he stated.

He noted that this policy is greatly needed in Papua to enhance security and peace in the region. Thus, he expressed heartfelt thanks, hoping that Almighty God would assist and bless the duties and responsibilities of the Police Chief.

With this quota increase, it is expected that more Papuan youths will be able to join the police force, thereby contributing to the maintenance of security and order in the Papua region. This policy not only provides broader opportunities for Papuan youth but also serves as a strategic step in ensuring security and stability in a region frequently facing various security challenges.

Community and religious leaders in Pegunungan Bintang hope that this policy will continue and have a positive impact on all people in Papua.

“We greatly hope that this quota increase will bring significant benefits to Papua and be the first step toward a safer and more prosperous future,” added Engelbertus Uropmabin.

With support from various societal elements, the policy of increasing the Bintara quota is expected to create a more conducive environment for all Papuans and strengthen the relationship between the police and the local community.
