
The Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force, together with the Dogiyai Police, succeeded in arresting the Leader of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in the Dokoge-Paniai area, Peni Pekei alias Petrus Pekei, who is also the General Operations Commander of the Dokoge Headquarters. This arrest occurred in Ekaugida Village, precisely on the Pugo hill, East Paniai District, Paniai Regency, on Friday (17/5/2024).
Head of Cartenz-2024 Peace operations, Police Commissioner. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., when asked for information, said that the arrest of KKB Leader Petrus Pekei was carried out based on Police Report Number LP/01/K/II/2015/PAPUA/RES PANIAI dated February 1 2015 and People Wanted List (DPO) Number: DPO / 36 / XI / 2016 / DITRESKRIMUM dated 11 November 2016.
“Petrus Pekei was arrested in connection with the crimes of extortion, threats, violent theft and illegal possession of firearms which he committed on January 31 2015 in Witai Village, Yatamo-Paniai District, with the victim being Nicolas Worabay.” said Kaops Peace Cartenz-2024.
Meanwhile, Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Public Relations Task Force, AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno also explained that the arrest occurred when Petrus Pekei was on his way from Nabire Regency to Paniai Regency. “Less than three hours after monitoring, personnel succeeded in apprehending the perpetrator at Pugo Hill, Madi Village, East Paniai District, Paniai Regency.
“Currently, Petrus Pekei has been taken to Nabire Regency for further examination at the Nabire Police Headquarters. “This examination aims to investigate more deeply Peter’s involvement in the KKB network.” Said the Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Public Relations Task Force.
He added that KKB Petrus Pekei is known by the alias Peni Pekei and has an important position as KKB Operations Commander at the Dokoge-Paniai Headquarters.
This arrest shows the seriousness of the National Police through the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force in enforcing the law against KKB who disrupt social security and order in the jurisdiction of the Papua Regional Police.
