
akarta – President Joko Widodo and a number of ministers and the Advanced Indonesia cabinet held a limited meeting to discuss special operations for Papua.
According to Deputy State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, the ministers present included Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto, and Chief of General Staff (Kasum) TNI Lt. Gen. Bambang Ismawan.
Apart from that, also present were the Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa, the Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan and the National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
“This is a matter of discussing the budget for special operations in Papua,” said Kartika at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (8/5/2024).
“There were (present) the Minister of Defense, the Head of the TNI General, the Head of BIN and the National Police Chief,” he said.
Meanwhile, according to the Head of Bappenas, Suharso Monoarfa, his party is currently preparing a plan to accelerate Papua’s development, one of which is a welfare approach program.
“So I reported earlier that we will start this year and the vice president will soon go to Papua, because he is the chairman of this implementation,” said Suharso.
“Then do we gradually implement all of these welfare approaches, including for education, health and so on, the budgets of which have been included in ministries and institutions,” he said.
Apart from that, according to him, the meeting with the President also discussed security approaches which must be given special attention to ensure peace in Papua.
