Mimika- Academician from the Kamoro Tribe in Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province, Leonardus Tumuka, appealed to the people in this area to take part in maintaining security and asked the community ahead of the 2024 regional head elections (Pilkada).
Mimika Regency academic Leonardus Tumuka said that community security and peace is the social responsibility of all communities in this area.
“Public security and peace are the needs of the entire community, so let’s work together to provide tension for this,” he said.
According to Leonardus, security and peace can be realized if there is awareness and active community participation in creating conducive conditions.
“Let’s not give room for division in our area, because Mimika is a common home for all of us, so it must be guarded and cared for with full awareness,” he said.
He explained that so far he has seen that the people of Mimika Regency are extraordinary in maintaining ties between religions, ethnicities and cultures so that this has become a big asset in creating security and comfort in the community.
“Mimika is very heterogeneous, not only the indigenous tribes that live here, but all the tribes in Indonesia are here living side by side very peacefully,” he said again.
He added that ahead of the November 2024 regional elections, he invited all Mimika people to uphold the values of nationalism and prioritize common interests, namely caring for this area so that it is always safe, peaceful and conducive.
“Let us continue to maintain the existing peace and security well, by respecting each other and respecting existing differences,” he said again.
