Jayapura- Police Chief Commissioner Viktor D. Mackbon said that the authorities will anticipate any disturbance by committing routine patrol in Jayapura city judicial area ahead of the May 1st which claimed as the annexation of the Papua day or the day when Papua officialy became the part of Indonesia after the dutch occupation.
This Papuan mix-blooded man continued, his team also will continue to build intensive communication with groups who want to take action related to May 1, especially groups in named themselves such as the KNPB and so on.
“Furthermore, if there are parties or groups who want to take action ahead of May 1 or afterwards, please keep following the rules and mechanisms that prevails in our country, Indonesia. And these activities shall not disturb the public security in the Jayapura city area.” he said.
Mackbon added that the Jayapura city police together with the TNI, in this case Kodim 1701 Jayapura will work together to provide security and peace for the residents of Jayapura city, with various activities involving all components of society.
It is known that May 1st, 1963 was the day when the Indonesian government officially involved Papua to join the country from Dutch colonial occupation.
