Jayapura – Max Abner Ohee, as the Chairman of Barisan Merah Putih Republik Indonesia (BMP RI), expressed his full support for the Indonesian National Police (Polri) program to recruit Bintara Polri for Indigenous Papuans (OAP).
He stated that this program is in line with the formation of new autonomous regions (DOB) in Papua, where adequate police personnel are needed to maintain security and order in the community, as well as support the smooth progress of development in the region.
Moreover, the current Polri recruitment provides a significant opportunity for native Papuan youth to participate as public servants in advancing security and prosperity in their homeland.
“We highly appreciate Polri and Polda Papua for successfully conducting this Bintara Polri recruitment in Papua,” said Max Ohee in his statement in Jayapura on Wednesday (17/4/2024).
Max Ohee believes that the newly recruited Bintara Polri will be very beneficial for the communities in DOB areas. “We hope they will be positioned and placed in DOB areas to carry out their duties and responsibilities as police officers in the local area,” he added.
Furthermore, Ohee hopes that these new Bintara Polri officers will work professionally and humanely in carrying out their duties. “We also hope they can establish good communication with the community, thus creating a sense of safety and comfort for the people in DOB areas,” he added.
The formation of DOB in Papua is one of the government’s efforts to accelerate development and improve the welfare of the people in the region. With the presence of these new Bintara Polri officers, it is hoped that security and order in DOB areas can be well maintained, allowing development and community welfare to progress smoothly.
The recruitment of Bintara Polri in Papua is a strategic step to strengthen security and support development in DOB areas.
Elsewhere, the Ops Damai Cartenz-2024 Head of Public Relations, AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, stated that the Polri recruitment program prioritizing applicants from Indigenous Papuans (OAP) is a tangible manifestation of government development in the Human Resources (HR) sector, which will lead to the emergence of qualified Polri members from Papua in the future.
“With full support from various parties, it is hoped that this program can run successfully and bring benefits to the people of Papua,” said Bayu.
