Jayapura- The Central Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) asks that the Nabire incident not be repeated, therefore people who want to express their aspirations or demonstrate must carry it out in accordance with the laws and regulations and in an orderly and responsible manner.
Acting (Pj) Governor of Central Papua Rebekah Haluk in Jayapura, Sunday said to anyone, please convey their aspirations well.
“We, the government, are preparing an open space for people who want to express their aspirations,” he said
According to Rebekah, for this reason, his party also appealed to the public who wanted to convey their aspirations to carry out demonstrations properly in accordance with statutory regulations.
“We do not want the incident of the demonstration against militarism in Tanah Papua which was held in Nabire Regency on Friday (5/4) to happen again,” he said.
He explained that his party was very sorry for the incident which resulted in an incident of sexual violence, then an 11 year old child was hit by a stone thrown by the mob and a resident’s house was burned down.
“We, the Central Papua Provincial Government, are not anti-democratic, but everything must be in designated spaces,” he said again.
He added that all people who want to express their opinions are welcome, but of course in accordance with the law.
Moreover, this is a democratic country so there are no prohibitions, but you need to pay attention to the required provisions and please comply with the law in an orderly manner.
