On Monday morning, April 8 2024, at around 10.00 WIT, the Cartenz Peace Operations Gakkum Task Force succeeded in arresting one person by the name of Bui Wonda alias Bossman Wenda to then carry out an investigation regarding weapons and ammunition. Then in the afternoon at around 14.00 WIT, a group suspected by the Intan Jaya area KKB led by Undius Kogoya made an attempt to free BW by attacking the Bank Papua post in Intan Jaya.
The sound of a series of gunshots was heard by KKB coming from behind the Papua Bank post, then members of the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force from the BPD post and tower post responded in the direction of the sound of gunfire with 6 shots. Responding to this, Head of the Cartenz Peace Operations Public Relations Task Force AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, S.H., S.I.K, M.M., M.H. provide information to media crew.
“Yes, on Monday morning today, a person suspected of being from the KKB network in the name of Bui Wonda alias Bossman Wenda was arrested who triggered the attack on the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force Post in Sugapa, Intan Jaya Regency, allegedly by the KKB in the Intan Jaya area led by Undius Kogoya,” explained Bayu.
As a result of the KKB attack, the BPD post was heavily damaged, the Task Force members were safe, but at around 14.30 WIT information was obtained that 2 people had been shot. The ODC Task Force immediately went to the crime scene and evacuated the two victims to the Bilogai Community Health Center to be given medical assistance.
The Head of the Public Relations Task Force added that until now it is not yet known from which direction the shots were fired which resulted in the two people being shot.
“We are still continuing to carry out investigations to find out from which direction the shots that resulted in the two people being shot came from,” said Bayu
Kaops Peace Cartenz Police Commissioner. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H. added that his party would continue to pursue the perpetrator of the shooting and continue to investigate the alleged KKB network which is currently being detained.
“We will continue to pursue the perpetrator of the shooting which resulted in the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force post being heavily damaged and two people being shot. “We will continue to pursue and enforce the law against perpetrators who are suspected to be members of the KKB network,” concluded Faizal.
