
ayapura- Regarding the planned crowd action by a group calling itself the Papuan Student and People’s Front Against Militarism (FRPAM) on Tuesday, this was welcomed by the Jayapura City Police Chief, Commissioner Pol. Victor D. Mackbon, S.H., S.IK., M.H., M.Sc.
KBP Police Chief Victor Mackbon emphasized that he would provide permission and even facilitate it if the group fulfilled the formal requirements determined by the laws in force in the Republic of Indonesia, but if the actions taken later disturbed public notification or the interests of the rights of many people, it would of course be disbanded.
“If it meets the formal requirements in accordance with the applicable regulations according to the law, we will allow and facilitate the action so that it does not disturb public conversation, but if carrying out the action will disturb the public or the interests of many people’s rights, then of course it will be handled according to our SOP. , or disbanded,” said the Police Chief.
The Police Chief explained that the crowd action that the group would take part in was still related to the recently viral video of violence involving TNI personnel. “Last Friday, even though we didn’t have permission for the same action, we gave them a policy to convey their aspirations on the spot, precisely at the Uncen Abepura Gate, after which the protestors dispersed in an orderly manner,” said the Police Chief.
“Respect the rights of others, public interests must always be safeguarded. “The harmony that has been established should not be destroyed by groups that can trigger disruptions to security and social order for personal, group or group gain,” added the Chief of Police.
Furthermore, KBP Victor Mackbon also said that this incident is currently being handled seriously by TNI officials, where 13 soldiers have been named as suspects and are currently undergoing an investigation process and are being detained.
Regarding this incident, the TNI leadership has also clarified and apologized, while the perpetrators are 13 TNI members who have been named as suspects and detained for investigation. “This is a form of responsibility and gentlemen from the TNI Agency, let’s respect it and just follow developments, there’s no need to make things detrimental,” said the Police Chief.
KBP Police Chief Victor Mackbon also sent a message to all elements of society, from residents to figures and leaders of community associations, that they should not be easily provoked by issues that aim to disrupt the smooth functioning of security and social order.
“Public order is the responsibility of all of us, let’s join hands together to maintain the conduciveness of Kamtibmas in our environment by supporting the TNI-Polri security forces in carrying out their duties,” concluded KBP Police Chief Victor Mackbon.
