The announcement of this determination was made at the Plenary Meeting to Determine the Recapitulation of National Vote Counting Results for the 2024 General Election.
Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Police Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom, said that after the announcement the overall situation of security and order in the jurisdiction of the Papua Police was safe and conducive, Monday (25/3/2024).
“Indeed, in several districts/cities there were protests regarding the election results and there were even attacks between groups of people using sharp tools. “But with the cooperation of all parties, we can suppress all of this so that there are no victims,” said the Head of Public Relations.
Furthermore, he appealed to those who were members of the Legislative Candidates yesterday and have not yet been elected to accept the results of the vote count and not invite or bring large crowds to do things that could harm themselves or others.
“We also advise those who have succeeded in gaining the trust of the community to further prepare themselves to work in accordance with community expectations,” he explained.
There are mechanisms or legal steps that must be fulfilled if there is knowledge of fraud or violations during the phasing process of the previous election.
“Once again, we from the TNI and Polri security forces invite all elements of society to maintain a safe and conducive security and social security situation,” he said.
“Our rivalry was over during yesterday’s election and let us return to our usual activities to meet our individual needs and maintain national unity for the sake of realizing peace, especially in the Land of Papua,” he added.
