As quoted from the papuatimes.co.id portal, the presence of the two OAP figures who occupy strategic positions at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and PTFI, brought a breath of fresh air to OAP journalists. The reason is, both of them have a wealth of knowledge and experience which is very useful for future media development.
Anthonius Ayorbaba presented material entitled “The Importance of Legal Legality for the Papuan Press facing the digital era.” He emphasized that media led by OAP must have legal legality or be a legal entity.
Apart from legal entities, every media established by OAP must be registered and have a copyright as a matter of legal legality.
Ayorbaba appreciates AWP for making a new breakthrough by holding online media management training for Media Leaders throughout the Land in order to increase the capacity of the Papuan people.
“To advance Papua, all parties must collaborate together. “With the aim of developing Papua,” said Ayorbaba, adding that this training is very important amidst the implementation of the Special Autonomy law.
In tune with Ayorbaba, PTFI Director & EVP (Executive Vice President) Sustainable Development Claus Wamafma emphasized collaboration as the key to advancing Papua.
He explained that PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) was opening itself to empower indigenous Papuans in developing and advancing society in the land of Papua.
Claus said that there are many sons and daughters of OAPs who currently hold strategic positions in the company with various skills and knowledge. Currently, they are working and creating a positive contribution to the development and progress of the land of Papua.
“We always provide opportunities for the development of the local community in Timika, which is currently part of Central Papua Province, both in the fields of business, health and even sports,” said Claus Wamafma during a question and answer session with Media Leaders on the sidelines of the Online Media Management Training.
He also added that in order to empower OAP human resources, PT Freeport made various breakthroughs, one of which was by financing access to education for OAP sons and daughters, especially Amungme Kamoro sons and daughters receiving education at the Nemangkawi Mining Institute (IPN).
“Thousands of IPN graduates have been accepted to work at PT Freeport, some have also set up businesses independently in collaboration with Freeport,” he said.
On this occasion, Wamafma appreciated the breakthrough made by the Papuan Journalists Association (AWP) through holding Online Media Management Training.
“AWP carries out very useful activities for native Papuan journalist friends,” stressed Wamafma.
