Jayapura- TNI-Polri are covered in deep sorrow after six officers were killed by armed criminal groups (KKB) throughout 2024. The six victims consisted of three TNI soldiers and three police officers.
In news reports spread on social media from early January until now, it was recorded that the KKB launched its first attack in Taganombak District, Puncak Jaya Regency, Friday (5/1). Private Afriadi died in the attack.
“A TNI soldier has died,” said Dandim 1714 Lieutenant Colonel Inf Irawan.
Apart from that, the next KKB attack targeted officers in Bilogai Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya, Friday (19/1). This time the attack resulted in the death of a police officer named Bripda Alfandi Steve Karamoy.
“1 Cartenz Peace Operations personnel was hit by gunfire,” said Head of the Cartenz Peace Public Relations Task Force AKBP Bayu Suseno in his statement several times last January.
Before he died, the policeman was rushed to the Community Health Center to receive first aid. Unfortunately, the victim’s life could not be saved.
“Member Bripda Alfandi Steve Karamoy was shot in the left jaw through the right jaw,” he explained.
The KKB attack occurred again in March 2024. The first attack this month hit TNI soldiers in Muara District, Puncak Jaya, Sunday (17/3). Initially, members of the Elang IV Task Force named Serka Salim, Sertu Ismunandar, and Eli Telenggen were heading to Muara District using motorbikes.
However, they were suddenly shot by KKB in front of the Baru Muara Community Health Center. Serka Salim tried to return the fire while saving himself. Serka Salim finally managed to escape and was rescued by a GIDI Church pastor.
Meanwhile, Sertu Ismunandar reported his death in the shooting. Sertu Ismunandar was shot in the back of the head.
Three days later, KKB also carried out an attack and shooting in Baya Biru District, Paniai, Wednesday (20/3) at 08.00 WIT. Two police officers named Bripda Arnaldobert and Bripda Sandi Defrit died in the attack.
Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, said that the 2 personnel were initially at the Ndeotadi 99 police post, Baya Biru District. The two of them were securing Helipad 99 until suddenly they heard gunfire from the east.
“Suddenly several shots were heard from the east,” said Commissioner Benny, Wednesday (20/3).
Commissioner Benny said the KKB that carried out the attack was under the leadership of Aibon Kogoya. The attackers confiscated 2 AK-47 firearms belonging to the victim.
“We lost two personnel and two AK47 rifles were stolen,” said Commissioner Benny.
Most recently, the KKB launched another attack which killed TNI soldier Praka Riadi. Head of the TNI Penuspen, Major General TNI Nugraha Gumilar, said the shooting incident occurred on Friday (22/3).
Praka Riadi Yonif 323 on March 22 2024 at 19.28 WIT was shot in the right chest through the left shoulder by KKB at the Milawak Airport complex, said Nugraha Gumilar to detikcom, Sunday (24/3).
Major General Nugraha Gumilar has not confirmed further the chronology of the attack. Meanwhile, based on information circulating, this attack was carried out by the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya.
