Jayapura_ Papua is a province and an integral part of the Republic of Indonesia. The movement to separate Papua from the Republic of Indonesia is indeed a separatist movement that must be watched out for, this movement also seems to be asking for help from abroad by spreading the narrative that Papua deserves independence.
Various issues in Papua are entirely domestic affairs and all countries understand and respect Indonesia’s position.
Papua is now politically free, and regional elections and presidential elections have been held there, the central government continues to carry out affirmative policies with all its efforts to fulfill basic rights, including human rights.
This was conveyed by Papuan Youth Ali Kabiay who is also the secretary general of the DPP BMP RI, during a discussion at one of the meetings in Jayapura. Ali said, it is very unfortunate that the efforts of Papuan separatist groups such as ULMWP continue to campaign for Papuan independence.
This action is of course tantamount to insulting the democratic process that has been carried out by the Papuan people when voting in the Regional Election, Presidential Election, DPR Legislative Election process, where in fact native Papuans also vote in the democratic election process. Meanwhile, separatist groups that live abroad, instead claim and often act like kings, you come to live in Papua and then talk about Papua, now I want to ask, what have you ULMWP or separatist groups abroad done for the Papuan people? don’t do anything, it’s better not to talk about Papua.
Ali further said that President Joko Widodo pays great attention to Papua and West Papua, one of President Jokowi’s concerns in achieving equality throughout Indonesia, realized through village funds specifically allocated in the APBN.
Because this opportunity has been given through village funds, of course this must be utilized by the entire young generation of Papua to be able to work and build a better Papua. Village heads or village heads in Papua must also use village funds well and wisely so that it has a direct impact. “To the people in the villages, use village funds well, don’t use them for personal interests, not all village heads are like that, there are also village heads who are good and pay more attention to the people in the village,” said Ali.
The sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia in Papua must be established in the international world. There is a lot of slanted news about Indonesia towards Indigenous Papuans, this is an unconstitutional movement carried out by groups located abroad who do not understand and comprehend the current situation and conditions of development in Papua, how can we know the real situation in the land of Papua if “We ourselves live abroad, even people outside Papua, such as on the island of Java, still don’t understand the situation and conditions in Papua,” said Ali.
