Jayapura – Dogiyai Police are still investigating the fire case that burned down the District Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) office. Dogiyai.
According to reports received, the fire at the Dogiyai BPBD office occurred Tuesday night (12/3) at around 22.05 WIT.
“It is not yet certain what caused the fire which destroyed the entire building,” explained Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Commissioner Benny, Wednesday (13/3/2024) in Jayapura.
It was admitted that the statement from the Dogiyai Police Chief, Police Commissioner Sarraju, stated that the building was made of wood or semi-permanent, so the fire quickly spread to all parts of the building.
Members of the Dogiyai Police Criminal Investigation Unit will carry out a crime scene investigation (TKP) and collect information regarding losses caused by the fire and ask for statements from witnesses to find out the chronology of the incident.
Apart from that, security forces were also deployed to guard the crime scene to avoid any untoward incidents.
When asked about the security and social security situation in the area, the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police admitted that from reports the security and social security situation was relatively conducive.
However, members of the National Police who work at the Dogiyai Police Station carry out patrols to provide a sense of security to the community, said the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Commissioner Ignatius Benny Adi Prabowo.
Dogiyai Regency is one of eight districts in Central Papua Province.
