Community Figure Calls for Increased Religious Tolerance in the Holy Month

Mimika – Community figures in Central Papua are urging the entire community of Mimika Regency to enhance tolerance among religious communities in this blessed and sacred month.

 

The Chairman of Yahamak (Human Rights Foundation against Violence) in Mimika Regency, Arnold Ronsumbre, made this call during a press conference in Mimika on Wednesday (13/03/2024). He reminded that at present, Muslims are observing fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

 

“In this month, many people in Papua, especially in Mimika Regency, are fasting. Therefore, we urge the community to increase tolerance among religious communities,” he said.

 

Ronsumbre also urged the community to maintain security and order in Mimika Regency following the election plenary.

 

“The Plenary of the 2024 Election in Mimika Regency has taken place, so we urge the community to together maintain security and order in Mimika Regency,” he said.

 

In addition, Ronsumbre also expressed appreciation to the security forces of the TNI-Polri who have worked to secure the implementation of the 2024 Election in Central Papua Province.

 

“We, on behalf of the entire community, express our gratitude to the members of the TNI-Polri who have maintained security during the 2024 Election process so that it runs smoothly and safely,” he concluded.
