Papua- Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo reminded the security forces on duty in Papua to anticipate counterattacks after the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force again arrested one person who was unexpectedly a member of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
Bamsoet asked the joint team with the authorities to further strengthen patrols and increase vigilance after the arrest.
“The authorities need to anticipate the potential for counterattacks from armed criminal groups due to the incapacitation of one of their members,” said Bamsoet.
Even so, Bamsoet still encouraged the joint team and the authorities to continue to carry out cooling against members of armed criminal groups and other groups who were involved by lighting their space.
According to him, security forces need to continue to search the locations of the headquarters of the Free Papua KKB members by utilizing information from interrogations from arrested members.
“It is hoped that the entire headquarters along with existing separatist members can be immediately secured and legal action will be taken,” he said.
In this operation, Bamsoet also asked for the commitment of the security forces to continue to provide a sense of security and comfort in the Papua region. One of them is by strengthening and increasing the number of security teams spread throughout Papua, especially in conflict-prone areas.
