Yalimo_ Yalimo Police Chief, KOMPOL RUDOLF YABANSABRA, S.H. M.H., together with members of Yalimo Police managed to open the roadblock that was previously extorted by a group of residents. This incident occurred when they were about to escort the ballot box from Wambo KM55 village to Abenaho district, Yalimo district on Monday, February 19, 2024.
KOMPOL RUDOLF YABANSABRA explained that the roadblock was triggered by a stabbing incident against people in Wambo Village. The stabbing was carried out by unscrupulous people who were allegedly influenced by alcohol. Yalimo Police are investigating the people involved.
“The stabbing incident affected the escort of ballot boxes from the villages to the capital of Abenaho district. Therefore, we went directly to the field to coordinate and open the roadblock, so that the ballot box escort process could run smoothly,” said the Yalimo Police Chief.
Furthermore, the Police Chief said that after coordinating and communicating with the local community, finally the roadblock was successfully opened. The process of escorting ballot boxes can also be continued properly until it arrives at the capital of Abenaho district.
This incident shows a quick and effective response from the police in overcoming obstacles that arise during the implementation of ballot box escort tasks.
