Jayapura- Joint TNI-Police Task Force Peace Cartenz-2024 and Yonif 7 Marine Yahukimo Task Force took action in Kali Brasa Area, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, and succeeded in paralyzing 1 person suspected of being a KKB member and securing 2 witnesses at the scene of the action on (Thursday / 22/2024).
The action against 1 suspected KKB member and the securing of 2 witnesses from the scene of the action, is a follow-up and response of the authorities due to the disturbance of the shooting of the Wings Air IW 1646 ATR 700 PK WGT aircraft on Saturday 17 February 2024. from the shooting, Private Ongen R. Dori, a member of Kodim 1715 Yahukimo, suffered a blister on the left neck due to glass splinters hit by bullets.
Head of Ops Peace Cartenz-2024, Kombes Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, when confirmed stated that the Joint TNI-Polri Ops Peace Cartenz and Task Force Yonif 7 Marines Yahukimo led by Major Mar Hariono and AKP Budi Basrah while carrying out observations in the area of origin of the shooting of the Wings Air plane around the Braza River, there was a shootout with the KKB, one KKB suspect was killed and two witnesses were successfully secured.
“The two witnesses who were secured were, “M.H” (15), and “B.G.E” (15) while the identity of one suspected KKB member who died during the firefight, is still under investigation by officers,” said Kombes Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani.
He continued, the joint TNI-Polri Ops Peace Cartenz and Yonif 7 Marine Yahukimo Task Force had confiscated evidence from the hands of the two witnesses in the form of 74 Cal.5.56 ammunition and 2 SS1 Magasen, cash totaling 3 million 50 thousand, 1 Solar Cell, Morning Star Noken, 2 Oppo cellphones, 1 Nokia cellphone, 1 wrench, 2 case heads and 1 Type C cable.
In addition, the Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Public Relations Task Force, AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno when confirmed explained that the joint TNI-Polri Task Force of the Cartenz Peace Ops and the Yahukimo Marine Battalion 7 Task Force had taken action at Kali Brasa Dekai District, Yahukimo, and from the action two witnesses were secured by officers, while 1 other person suspected of being a KKB member was shot dead during a firefight.
“Currently the two witnesses have been secured at the Ops Damai Cartenz-2024 post in the Yahukimo area for the time being, because both of them are allegedly still students and one suspected KKB member who was shot dead during the shootout, has been taken to Yahukimo Hospital for medical treatment”, concluded the Head of the Public Relations Task Force.
