Jayapura – Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Mathius D. Fakhiri, S.I.K said that the 2024 Election voting situation in the jurisdiction of the Papua Regional Police was running smoothly.
“I received reports from the police chiefs, the voting went smoothly,” said the Papua Police Chief when interviewed by media crew, Wednesday (14/02/2024).
Even though it is conducive, the Regional Police Chief said that the situation could change during the vote counting process later.
“We will take care that after the voting, namely the vote counting, there will be protests and we will anticipate this,” said Inspector General Fakhiri.
Furthermore, the Regional Police Chief hopes that political parties and legislative candidate participants will be smart when protesting.
“Please protest, but through a mechanism according to the rules, so that it doesn’t have a ripple effect at the sub-district to district level,” he explained.
Apart from that, he also hopes that the public will continue to maintain the security situation until the democratic party is over.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the community for maintaining security. “I also hope that the current situation can be maintained,” he concluded.
