Papua- The Papua Archipelago Student Executive Board (BEM) and the Jayapura BEM Forum held a peaceful election declaration in 2024 in Jayapura City. Central Executive for the Coordinator of Women and Children’s Issues, Bem Nusantara Indonesia, Aksa Hamadi, said that as students, they must welcome the democratic party with positive things.
“There are only 3 days left in the elections, for this reason we, BEM Nusantara, invite all elements of the student body to invite each other and give an appeal to the community not to enter the white group (abstention),” said Aksa Hamadi.
Aksa said that as students, they must be agents who have a positive effect on society.
“So that the people’s voice is useful in determining who will be the future leader of the country,” he said.
Apart from that, there are many negative issues that occur in election discussions. “Hopefully the declaration of peace as well as the presence of BEM Nusantara and BEM throughout Jayapura will have a positive effect among the community,” he said.
Likewise, the Coordinating Committee for Papua Land, BEM Nusantara Brilian Ayhuan, added that the declaration of peaceful elections is very important for students.
“Especially in Jayapura, because we as representatives of students are very important for things like this,” he said.
He said that a declaration of safe elections must be made, because students are agents of change.
“The agenda for student representatives must include positive things such as the declaration of safe elections in 2024.”
“Because, we, too, as intellectuals, must provide education to our younger siblings or parents who don’t understand it at all, or who have never participated in an election,” he continued.
According to him, intellectuals must convey positive things ahead of the election so that people can understand and understand how to choose future leaders.
