Jayapura – Located in Omukia District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua Province, there was a security disturbance in the form of gunfire by the Water Head Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Jacky Murib. This action occurred when TNI-Polri security personnel were carrying out a joint patrol, Saturday (3/2/2024) at around 12.11 WIT.
Puncak Police Chief, Commissioner I Nyoman Punia, stated that previously, officers received a report that the Omukia Health Center in Omukia District, Puncak Regency, had been the target of arson by the KKB group in the Headwater area. Joint TNI-Polri officers immediately responded by going to the Omukia Health Center to carry out checks.
“Sounds of gunfire were heard from behind the Omukia Community Health Center, and there was gunfire between TNI-Polri personnel and the KKB group in the Headwater area,” said the Police Chief.
“In the pursuit, the authorities managed to arrest one KKB member who was on the Ilaga Police’s Wanted List (DPO). “Warinus Murib, a member of the KKB, died in the incident. Meanwhile, two other people, AM and DK, were suspected of being members of the KKB group Numbuk Telenggen,” added Nyoman.
Head of Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Public Relations Task Force. AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno provided details of the evidence that was successfully seized by the authorities during the chase.
“Since last night, together with the TNI Polri Task Force in Ilaga, we have been pursuing and enforcing the law, we have succeeded in arresting 3 KKB and their evidence, including 1 mouser type firearm, 2 air rifles, 1 BK flag, 1 “cellphone, 1 SS1 type magazine and 17 rounds of 5.56 caliber ammunition. Please note that of the 3 KKBs, 1 KKB was found dead, while the other 2 KKBs were injured.” Bayu said
Several hours after the incident, precisely at 20.15 WIT, KKB was observed setting fire to the health center building in Erobaga.
Head of Cartenz Peace Operations (Ka Ops), Police Commissioner. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, emphasized his commitment to continue pursuing the KKB which disrupted Public Order and Order, including burning down community health centers.
“We will continue to pursue the KKB in Ilaga which has been causing disturbances to Public Order and Order in the form of burning community health centers and so on. If there are people who have information regarding the KKB in Ilaga, don’t hesitate to provide information to us,” concluded Faisal.
