Jayapura – Joint TNI and Polri officers succeeded in arresting 4 young men who were caught carrying ammunition and liquor (Miras) and Noken with the Morning Star pattern in Bilogai village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, Wednesday (31/1/24) at around 18.00 WIT.
Temporary Deputy Kapendam Four youths have been detained by TNI Soldiers from Yonif 330/TD Task Force at the Bilogai Post because they saw several youths passing by on motorbikes and their movements were suspicious.
“After being checked, it turned out that he was found carrying 4 bottles of alcohol, so he was checked further and it turned out he was also carrying 9 rounds of 5.56 mm caliber ammunition in a bag wrapped in socks,” said Kapendam.
Kapendam continued, After undergoing an examination and seeing their identities, the four young men had the initials SN (21), DIA (21), EZ student/student (22), TW student/student (21).
“Due to the ownership of the munitions being the reason for the investigation, the four youths were detained at the TNI Post, then the youths were handed over to the Sugapa Police for further investigation by the Police,” said Kapendam.
He emphasized that it was not true that he was arrested and detained because there was no cause, as was circulating on social media.
According to Candra, all the evidence has been handed over to the Police for legal processing.
Previously, a chain message had circulated on social media that the four youths were deliberately interrogated without reason, thus provoking them to fight back against the TNI and Polri officers.
“It is currently being processed and examined in accordance with applicable law. “Trust the Security Forces, and I hope the public will not be provoked by misleading news and hoaxes,” he concluded.
