Papuan Traditional Leaders Invite People to Use Their Right to Vote in Elections

Papua- Papuan traditional figure from Keerom Regency Herman Yoku invited the Papuan people specifically in Keerom to support the implementation of the democratic party which will be held on February 14 2024.

In his delivery, he said that this was a sign that the elections in Indonesia were on Valentine’s Day.

“I hope that the community will create a sense of security, peace and order during the democratic festival. “In this way, we will truly have a say in the future of development, especially the development of Special Autonomy and in general sustainable development,” he hoped.

Furthermore, as citizens you must obey the law and the law. Therefore, the entire area where we live must also be protected together during the election because what is being held is an election that is peaceful, orderly, safe, secret, free from all obstacles.

Regarding the issue of individuals boycotting the election, Herman explained, here I invite us as citizens to use the right to vote which is also a political right for the sake of future development.

“There should no longer be any issue of boycotting elections because that is not the only solution for organizing a democratic party. Remember, this is implemented once every 5 years. If you don’t cast just one vote in the ballot box at the polling station then you will lose out for the next 5 years. So, let’s “use your right to vote so that wherever you are, you return to your respective area where your polling station is located. Even if you are in Jakarta or anywhere else, you are invited to return as a good citizen to use your right to vote,” he explained.

Therefore, Herman emphasized that the February 14 elections will continue to be carried out peacefully and in an orderly manner in the interests of development for Indonesian citizens in Papua.
