Nduga – The 411/Pandawa Mechanized Raider Battalion Task Force confiscated 2 M4 and AR 15 firearms (senpi) which were suspected to belong to an armed criminal group (KKB) in Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains. The TNI also confiscated magazines and air rifles.
“It is suspected that the 2 weapons are weapons that will be used by the Papuan KKB in carrying out acts of terror against the community and attacks on security forces on December 1,” said Kapen Kogabwilhan III Colonel Czi IGN Suriastawa in his statement, Sunday (19/11/2023) .
TNI officers confiscated the two latest generation assault weapons in a building at the Batas Batu Airport Camp, Sunday (19/11). This discovery began with information that the KKB would attack the community and the authorities.
“Information was obtained about the KKB’s action plan which would attack security forces and attack the community again,” he explained.
Based on this report, the authorities carried out a search at the Batas Batu Camp which was suspected to be a KKB crossing point. At that time, TNI officers saw someone running towards the forest.
“The Infantry Battalion 411/Pandawa Kostrad Task Force team saw the suspected person running towards the forest and leaving behind items that were likely to be smuggled,” he said.
TNI officers inspected the building suspected of being a storage place for KKB’s goods. The authorities then found the 2 rifles as well as an air rifle, 2 5.56 mm caliber magazines, a machete and 2 Morning Star flags.
“2 long-barreled rifles type M4 Carbine and AR 15 Carbine with, 2 5.56 mm magazines, 1 air rifle, 1 machete, 2 Morning Star flags, 1 WD oil, 3 bows, 2 children arrow,” he explained.
Suriastawa revealed that the two rifles were thought to have come from the border area. The guns were smuggled by sea and then continued by land.
“The guns could have come from the border using the water route and then the land route into Kenyam territory,” he concluded.
