Jayapura – The police are currently investigating the case of a fire that engulfed the Multipurpose Building which houses the BPMK, PTSP, and the Yahukimo Regency Regional Revenue Service Offices, which occurred early Thursday morning, around 00.48 WIT.
Head of Papua Police Public Relations, Kombes Pol. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom, confirmed the fire incident. According to Kombes Benny, the joint apparatus received the first report via HT communication stating that a fire had occurred at the BPMK Office, the PTSP Office, and the Yahukimo Regency Regional Revenue Service Office.
An immediate response was carried out by joint personnel from the Yahukimo Police, members of the Cartenz Peace Task Force, and members of the Papua Police Mobile Brigade Company III Yon D Pelopor. They arrived at the location immediately, but unfortunately, the building was already engulfed in flames.
“Currently, Yahukimo Police Criminal Investigation Unit personnel have installed a police line at the location of the fire incident. However, during the night conditions, processing of the Crime Scene (TKP) cannot be carried out,” explained Kombes Benny.
It is not yet known exactly what caused the fire. Currently, an intensive investigation is being carried out by the authorities. Unfortunately, there were no witnesses who directly saw the incident of this fire, considering that the incident occurred in the middle of the night.
“We will try our best to uncover the cause of this fire. The losses caused by this fire are enormous, and we will also work hard to avoid similar incidents in the future,” he concluded.
