Jayapura- The Acting Governor of Papua Mountains, Nikolaus Kondomo, has asked the Nduga Regional Government to assist in efforts to free the Susi Air pilot, Captain Philips Mark Martheins, who was taken hostage by an armed criminal group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya.
The hostage situation occurred after his plane was burned down at Paro Airport, Nduga, on February 7, 2023.
According to reports received by the Acting Governor of Papua Mountains, Nikolaus Kondomo, Captain Philips Mark Martheins, who is from New Zealand, is still in the Nduga Regency area.
Nikolaus said that efforts to free the hostages continue to be made by involving community leaders and religious leaders.
Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih, Major General Izak Pangemanan, previously revealed that Captain Philips Mark Martheins is in good condition.
“TNI-Polri are trying to free him through negotiations that take precedence,” said Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih, Major General Izak Pangemanan.
